This collection was created to score the movement work of Brandy Leary and Anandam Dancetheatre's "Cascade" and the accompanying projections by Eamon MacMahon.
Created for Scotiabank Nuit Blanche Toronto 2014, "Cascade" features a mass of suspended bodies engaged in the constant action of slowly falling. An immersive piece that integrates contemporary circus arts, choreography, projection and sonic installation this work is aimed at reducing the intensity of city spaces, public areas and large gatherings. This work dedicates itself to a slowing down of the mind, the body and the senses in urban environments.
The sound for "Cascade" was composed and performed with A = 432Hz. Presented over 7 channels in the old Press Building of The Globe and Mail, the sound was designed to fill the space with as little volume as was needed so as not to overpower or fatigue the audience. Composed as a 1 hour piece designed to repeat 12 times over the course of the night, each repeating version of the piece with a slightly different mix of its elements.
The hour long recording presented here is stereo mix of one of those versions.
